Fall 2025: A Warm Welcome to Our Exchange Students

New exchange students

We are delighted to welcome seven new international students to our university this semester!
1 from Langara College (Canada)
1 from Chiang Mai Rajabhat University (Thailand)
2 from the University of Gdańsk (Poland)
3 from Bago City College (Philippines)

They arrived in September and are currently living together in the International Hall. Many of them are enrolled in Japanese Studies and actively use Japanese in both their classes and daily lives. Their dedication to language learning is already showing great promise, and we look forward to seeing their skills continue to grow.

We hope they enjoy their time here and make the most of their experience until the end of their stay.

ICS Welcome Party

The International Centre Supporters (ICS) hosted a lively welcome party for the exchange students, filling the venue with cheerful smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. Everyone had a great time playing games like Telephone and Heads Up, which sparked laughter and helped break the ice. It was a wonderful event that brought students closer together, creating a warm and friendly vibe. Many new friendships were formed, making it a perfect start to an exciting semester ahead.

Dormitory Welcome Party

The dormitory held its welcome party, giving students a chance to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. The Japanese students prepared Hayashi rice, a dish that’s less common than Japanese curry, so it was a first-time experience for many of the exchange students.

In return, the exchange students brought snacks from their home countries, which everyone enjoyed sharing. To wrap up the evening, the group watched a Japanese animated movie together.

It was a simple but enjoyable night, and a nice way to start the semester.

Exploring Mito

Exchange students recently enjoyed a memorable day out in Mito, guided by their fellow dormmates from International Hall. The outing began with lunch in two small groups, giving everyone a chance to chat and get to know each other better. After regrouping, the students took part in a hands-on tatami-making workshop. It was a fun and unique cultural experience not only for the exchange students, but also for the Japanese students, many of whom were trying it for the first time.
It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, learning, and new friendships.
